So here's how you know you need to get a life of your own instead of living vicariously through your coworkers:
Wednesday, Natalie came by my cubicle after lunch.
Natalie: I hear you're a secret American Idol fan.
Me: Honey, there is no secret about it!
Nat: Guess who I just had lunch with?
Me: Who?
Nat: Danny Gokey, from Season 8.
Me: You're kidding me! Where? How did you have lunch with him?
Nat: At KC Pita. Kristyn and I were eating there and saw Danny having lunch with someone--a radio DJ, I think.
Me: So you didn't actually eat with him, then?
Nat: Well, no. But we were in the same building and saw him.
Me: Did you at least go talk to him?
Nat: No.... But maybe I should have.
Me: Um, yeah! I would have said, "Hi, Danny. My whole family loved you last season. Enjoy your lunch."
Nat: Yeah. I should have said something.
She sighed and I nodded. Then Natalie went to the pop machine and I finished editing an environmental assessment.
I definitely need to get out for lunch more often.

Cool! I liked Danny.. especially in the early weeks of Idol.. his story was so compelling.. I could relate a bit.
His story was compelling, his voice was good, and he wasn't arrogant. A good guy.
LOL! Different strokes for different folks. I' wouldn't know him if I tripped and fell over him!
Sally, click on the link attached to his name in my post and go read about him. He's a neat guy. If you tripped over him, he'd help you up, I bet. :o)
Oh, but that one awful note he hit. It was bad enough to cause nightmares. (g)
I don't know who this neat Danny person is either, but I'm glad the reason you felt you have to make a change was not something like a bad test result at a doctor's office. You really got my attention.
I'm glad, too, Chikako. These days, seems like I find something every day that makes me want to make a change, try something new, do something different. :)
Mike, I don't even remember that awful note. I just remember what a great story he had and that beautiful, bluesy voice!
Hey there. I'm gonna speak at our next HACWN meeting. About blogging, of all things. Maybe you can come, raise your hand at the appropriate time(s) and ruffle my duck feathers. Whatcha think? Bring a friend who will be welcomed and made to feel right at home. Perhaps.
